Why the last ten days cost nearly double
Laylat al-Qadr falls in the last ten nights, and the entire Muslim world tries to be in Makkah for it. Hotels within walking distance of the Haram sell out first and then reprice - a room that costs 40,000 rupees a night in an ordinary month can pass 150,000 in that final week. Airfares rise at the same time because every flight from Pakistan is full.
Aakhri ashra sab se ziyada mehnga hota hai, aur is mein hotel ka faasla sab se ahem cheez ban jata hai. Taraweeh aur qiyam ke baad raat ko do baje wapas aana hota hai - agar hotel door hai to shuttle par intezaar bohat lamba hota hai. What Ramadan in Makkah is actually like
It is the most rewarding time to go and the hardest. Be honest with yourself about which of these you can manage, because the wrong package in Ramadan is far worse than the wrong package in an ordinary month.
- The Haram is full for most of the day and night. Reaching the Mataf for tawaf can take an hour. In the last ten nights the whole precinct and surrounding streets fill up.
- Distance matters more than stars. A plain hotel 300 metres away beats a five-star 1.5 kilometres away, every time. In Ramadan the shuttle buses are slow and packed.
- Your day inverts. You will sleep in the afternoon and pray much of the night. Elderly travellers should plan a package with a shorter walk and accept fewer nights rather than more.
- Iftar is provided in the Haram every day, free, to anyone sitting on the floor. Many packages include no meals at all, and in Ramadan that matters less than you would think.
- Book your Madinah nights at the start, not the end. Everyone wants Madinah after Eid, so it is the most expensive and most crowded window of the whole trip.
When to book for Ramadan 2027
Earlier than you think. Ramadan 2027 falls in February and March, and the useful booking window opens as soon as the airlines publish their schedules in late 2026. The people who end up paying 600,000 for a room they did not want are almost always the ones who called in January.

- November to December 2026 - booking amount. This is when the good hotels get locked in. After this, the price only moves upward.
